Darmawangsa Square - The City Walk;
Food, Fashion or Fitness? Why not have it all? The first time I visited the City Walk at Darmawangsa Square it was like walking into the historical Queen Victoria Arcade in Sydney or Le Bon Marché in Paris left bank; the only thing missing was the roof top garden.
A great deal of attention has gone into the design of this chic and cosy shopping environment; which, with its cobbled stone floors and open balconies, makes the shopper feel as if they are wandering through an old English town centre.
Opened in August 2002, the City Walk has attracted an interesting mix of fashion, food and health outlets as well as having a nice vibe if you are in the mood to stay well past your usual bed time.
The fashion boutiques carry the latest designs from the likes of Alexander McQueen, Paul Smith, Stella McCartney and Marc Jacobs; to name just a few.
There is an international array of foods to be had. Japanese, Korean, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Western; there is something here to suite everyone’s palette.
To say you could spend the whole day at Darmawangsa City Walk would be an understatement but with my 3-year-old daughter in tow when we visited most recently this was not to be! However, her first sentence on entering the mall and looking up at the ceiling was, “Wow, it’s so beautiful Mummy!”
Ground Level
On the ground level, at one end of the mall, you'll find Ranch Market, a gourmet supermarket with a good mix of local and import brands you can rarely find in other markets across the City. Next door to Ranch is Tulisan, which has some beautiful locally produced and designed handmade prints, stationery, bags and homewares. Then, as well as the many boutiques running the length of the mall, there are also centre stalls which showcase different items from bikes to gifts to clothing. Whether you need an optician or are in the market for a new musical instrument, a photo/picture framer, a hair salon (there are numerous throughout the mall), the City Walk has it.
Garuda Indonesia has a booking office here, there is also a Dental Clinic, Jesslyn Cakes, Amore Baby Portraits, Floweroom Gift Shop and there is also a children's clothing factory outlet with clothes to fit children up to 12-years-old.
There is also a charming sweets stand called Kue Kue that sells delicious macarons and cupcakes
Spa Baby was the biggest attraction for my daughter at this mall! She spent 20 minutes being pampered with a mini manicure & pedicure which thoroughly delighted her. They offer a range of treatments for babies and children and you can find their contact details using the link here.
The toilets on this floor are clean but badly in need of upgrading and I would expect that this is the same on the other floors as well.
Level 1
One level up there are more beautiful shops to make you want to part with your money particularly if you are a mum to be or have a small baby. Blooming Chic houses maternity wear, (and stocks hotmilk breastfeeding bras!),Stellamas Baby Boutique has upmarket baby room furniture and accessories, Little Toes showcases good quality baby and children's brands at gorgeous prices has ergo baby carriers and even sells learning towers! Kasih Ibu has a great range of baby items & equipment – especially if you need a stroller, food processor or other large home play items.
Also on this level is a great mix of stores from a wine cellar to a spa, clothing boutiques, jewellery, gift & cake shops (with stunning fondant icing designs), to renowned designer swimwear boutique Nico Nico.
Level 2
Once you are exhausted and push on to the next level you will discover East West Physiotherapy Clinic, Mom n Jo Spa for adults (and they have a second shop near by for children), Body Works Pilates, Perfect 10 Pilates (which has classes for pregnant women and for mothers and babies), Gakken Science & Math School, Rebel combat martial arts school and two chiropractic clinics, hair salons & an art gallery. Also located on this floor is Clover Baby Boutique, which sells excellent products including cloth nappies, My Breast Friend Feeding pillows, Belly Bandits and extremely charming furniture.
Level 3
Finally on the third floor is a travel agent, massage rooms and offices as well as Garskin for laptop and device 'skins' and finally BrainFit Studio – a new addition to the City Walk who provide specialist education programs for children.
This mall is well worth a visit if you are in the area or live in South Jakarta.
